About Oconee Youth School of Performance

We are an award-winning performing arts academy offering students ages 3 and up the opportunity to study all areas of the performing arts – singing, dancing and acting – or to specialize in one area. OYSP offers a full range of dance classes – from ballet to hip hop – plus musical theater/drama and acrobatics. Private instruction is also available in voice, acting, auditioning and dance.

All students in our dance and musical theater classes participate in the annual Spring Showcase. Students in other classes will have end-of-year "shows" at the studio.

Our instructors are carefully chosen, based not only on their experience and abilities, but also on how they interact with students. We strive to create a positive and energetic environment where students are learning new skills in each and every class – and having fun at the same time. Classes are geared toward various levels, from beginners to experienced performers. Those interested in training at an advanced level can audition for our award-winning dance and musical theater companies.

Oconee Youth School of Performance was founded in 1998 by Terra Hannon, with her husband, Shane. Their goal from the beginning was to build a program where young people would have the opportunity to experience the joys and benefits of the performing arts in a supportive and creative environment.

The Watkinsville-based school moved in August 2006 from its former location in Butler’s Crossing to a brand-new, 10,000-square-foot facility at 1050 Jamestown Blvd., near Oconee County High School and the Oconee County Civic Center.

OYSP has been named “Best Studio” in both regional and national Access Broadway competitions and was cited by Dance Spirit Magazine as one of 50 “studios on the move.”
